“Being healthy is about two things: it’s about fixing things when they go wrong, but it’s also about trying to make sure they don’t go wrong in the first place.”
I came across this quote somewhere, and that got me thinking [Ya, I know, sometimes I think too much :-) ]
I asked myself what does ‘being healthy’ mean to me -
- is it a lack of annoying physical symptoms
- is it not having with any chronic ‘dis-ease’
- is it not catching the flu, cold, cough, fever (acute illnesses) easily
- is it not being in pain
- is it ‘preventing illness’
- is it popping tons of supplements, vitamins, going around wearing a mask over my mouth and nose, denying myself any so-called unhealthy foods, all the time worrying that I would fall sick
OR
- is it about being healthy on all levels- emotional, mental, spiritual, physical
- is it about waking up full of energy looking forward to the day ahead
- living each day at my best, not just in earning my living but making a contribution to others
- feeling emotionally centred
- feeling mentally alert and agile, and
- physically strong and able to accomplish all the things I want to do each day
I decided that a lack of disease or symptoms is not the meaning of health. For me, Health means Life itself. Our ancestors were right when they said “Health is the Real Wealth”.
Feeling happy, confident, calm, looking forward to each day, enjoying and loving what I am doing, having relationships where true mutual respect and love is present, being in the moment not hung up on the past not worried about the future, and so on…….
So, I have just raised the bar for myself.
How about you? How are going to define what ‘being healthy’ means to you?
Think about it.

For over 200 years since it was “discovered” by Dr Hahnemann, Homeopathy has received many negative comments specifically about the fact that homeopathic remedies are diluted beyond comprehensible levels, that they contain (in most cases) no biologically active ingredient, that till today we do not know how Homeopathy works, why it works.
Knowing that I am a homeopathic practitioner now (an educated one at that - in my previous career I was a Certifed Public Accountant for 15 years), people ask me how can you believe in a system that has no ”scientific”basis .
My answer is “the proof is in the eating” - you will only ever know if something works when you try it for yourself or someone close to you or someone you trust has tried it.
Homeopathy does not directly treat your illnesses. When you use Homeopathic remedies, you are improving what homeopaths call your “Vital Force” - your life energy, your defence mechanism, your immunity. Your now stronger Vital Force manages your illnesses and restores health.
When Homeopathy FAILS, it can be due to several reasons -
- The client did not provide true and full information, especially about his/her emotional and mental symptoms - this can be due to embarrassment, fear of being judged, or because (s)he did not realise that the symptom may be important
- Lack of skill of the homeopath in eliciting the required information
- Lack of skill of the homeopath in correctly identifying the client’s driving forces and the under-currents of the case i.e.what needs to healed
- Lack of objectivity on the part of the Homeopath
- Poor skill of the homeopath in finding the ”remedy of best fit” for the client
- Client did not take the prescribed remedies properly
- Remedies were stored in improper conditons thus nullifying their effect
- While on homeopathic treatment, client continued to drink black coffee (which is known to antidote homeopathic remedies)
- Client felt that the progress was too slow and abandoned homeopathy
- Client is not truly ready to let go of the illness - crazy as it sounds, there are people who want to hold on to their illness - could be in order to get attention, or they are so used to their sickness that they do not see any other way of living, or they do not believe in their own recovery, etc
- Client had the wrong expectations of homeopathy. While homeopathy can go a long way to help you manage your illnesses, it cannot compensate for improper lifestyle, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, and so on. For example, a client suffering from bronchitis who continues to smoke is not going to get much result from homeopathic remedies if he does not quit smoking.
While no Homeopath can help every client, Homeopathy can certainly help with most health conditions. It is sad that people attack Homeopathy without really understanding it or trying it, and in the process miss out on all its benefits.
So.. I wish you all a safe and gentle journey back to health with Homeopathy!!

I was recently asked a question - “How relevant is Homeopathy in modern times - after all it is a 200 year old system that has not undergone much change, nor undergoing “scientific” research like conventional medicine? Other natural therapies like Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda are undergoing “modernisation” and offer capsules instead of decoctions, etc, whereas Homeopathy has not changed all that much over the centuries - how useful can be it to the 21st century?”
A valid question. Here is my answer………
Homeopathy is extremely relevant today, perhaps more than it was 2 centuries ago. Not only that – it is an ideal vehicle for regaining and maintaining health in the 21st century, for the following reasons:
-
People today live with high levels of stress, emotional suppression, environmental pollution, sedentary lifestyles, poor diets and several other factors of modern life that constantly bombard the human organism on all levels – physical, mental, emotional. With its holistic approach of treating the person on all levels at the same time, and with one single remedy for all her problems, Homeopathy is primed to tackle the health issues of the modern world.
- Homeopathy is truly a 21st century medicine because instead of trying to find more viruses to kill, it focuses on strengthening the whole person so that his own defense mechanism is able to deal with any “virus” that attacks him.
- Homeopathy works on the basis of a true partnership between the homeopath and the patient. The focus is always on what the patient feels as a whole, not on just his diseases. Thus, it is a truly empowering medicinal system. (more…)

Hi there
These “words of wisdom” have been hanging on my wall for a long time. I do not remember where I got them, but want to share them with you today.
I asked for strength and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity and God gave me brawn and brain to work.
I asked for courage and God gave me dangers to overcome.
I asked for patience God placed me in situations where I was forced to wait.
I asked for love and God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for favours and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted. I received everything I needed.
Think about it, if you started looking at life and all its upheavals in the spirit of the words above, how much better would your emotional health be. Would you get as stressed out about things as you do now?
Yours in health!

Today, I am taking a trip down memory lane. I am going to share with you why I got interested in natural healthcare & in women’s health. So, here we go…………….
I had very early onset of puberty – at just 10 years of age. From the beginning, I had very heavy clotted menses lasting 7-10 days each time, with cycles between 30-35 days. When it did not settle down (normally it should get regularised within a year or two), I consulted a gynaecologist who said that it would settle down when I got married.
In my mid-20’s, I decided to have a child, but had difficulty conceiving. Tests showed that I had a hormonal imbalance and “multiple follicular cysts” in both ovaries. I was diagnosed as having Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The condition was not explained to me; nor was I taught how to manage this condition.

Homeopaths use the following criteria in evaluating healing:
v Significant, lasting improvement in physical symptoms
v Increased energy and sense of well-being
v Mental stability and clarity
v Emotional balance, and bringing out / removal of suppressed emotions
v Enhanced creativity and passion
v A sense of purpose or mission
Thus, it can be seen that Homeopathy has very high standards for healing. It is not enough to have one or two symptoms improve; all symptoms must be significantly better or at least progressing in the direction of cure.

Homeopathy is particularly suited to women’s conditions. It is a comprehensive system of alternative / complementary medicine that can meet the needs of women in all facets of their lives, and through all of life’s stages.
By strengthening the immune system, balancing emotions and re-aligning the mind-body-spirit connection, Homeopathy can help women feel at their very best, and achieve the higher purpose of their lives.

What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of alternative/complementary medicine, founded in the late 18th century by a German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, homeopathy is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’, also known as the Law of Similars. In simple terms, this means that what a substance in crude form can cause, it can cure when made into a homeopathic remedy.
» For example, coffee is known to cause sleeplessness; on the other hand, when it is made into a homeopathic remedy, coffee provides an effective treatment for sleeplessness.
» Another example, a bee sting produces redness, swelling and burning, which feels better by cold applications; any skin condition with such symptoms can be treated by the homeopathic remedy made from the bee.
